Fresh Ideas is the byproduct of a crossroad in my life. As a career software developer, I am use to getting useful information from tech blogs and forums. At one point in my career, I had even started to blog about my own software development achievements in order to help others in the field. It was short lived because I quit my job and began working for my own company as a contractor, and I became too busy to continue. I know, bummer right? After only a few posts, I stopped abruptly.
One day, I decided to see if anyone had learned anything from my blog posts, and I found someone who cited my work on GitHub. One person was all I needed, to flip the switch on the light-bulb over my head. To know that there was even one person who found my blog, read it, learned from it, applied their knowledge in their own work, and were gracious enough to give me a shout out for bridging whatever knowledge gap they had on the matter was extremely gratifying. When someone confirms what you did for purpose of helping, actually helped, you feel good.
Enter “Fresh Ideas”. The emotional high I was on after seeing my name in the comments of someone’s code in their GitHub repository, really propelled me to act on an idea I was already considering. To start another blog: Only, this time, I’m in a much different place than I was three years ago when I started my tech-blog, and the subjects of which I care to blog about has grown as well. However, the purpose behind what I write will always be to help, to invoke thoughtful conversation, and to share positive and relevant ideas. Get it while it’s Fresh, and enjoy!
